Scenario #1 - Internet/Server Balancing & Reliability
Problem
Internet access has become critical for the organization. A simple and cost effective solution is required to provide 24/7 uptime for inbound server connectivity and outbound Internet access.
Solution
Deployment of dual EdgeXL-500's in high availability mode. With the ability to combine two or more broadband connections, the EdgeXL platform is able to provide instant network failover services and ensure 99.999% availability for network applications and inbound server requests. Internet outages are detected by our sophisticated multi-level outage detection technology, and inbound server requests are automatically redirected to the appropriate link using our ActiveDNS module.
Scenario #2 - Improve Application Performance
Problem
Business critical applications must be remotely accessible by senior staff and external partners. Internal network usage and potentially some malicious activity is preventing reliable access to these applications.
Solution
Deployment of the EdgePRO-200. Utilizing the EdgePRO's network reporting capabilities the company quickly identified several key contributors to the network congestion. By adding shaping policies the company was then able to limit the available bandwidth to the top users and guarantee bandwidth and priority for their business critical application. Within a matter of hours, the problem had been solved and the remote network access was fast and responsive.
Scenario #3 - Branch Office Optimization
Problem
Branch offices are expanding and new applications require faster connectivity with 24/7 corporate access. Existing VPN solutions do not provide the reliability or speed enhancements needed to meet the organizations goals. Monthly bandwidth costs are growing and need to be reduced without sacrificing application responsiveness.
Solution
Deployment of the EdgePRO-200 and multiple EdgePRO-100 appliances. The EdgePRO is able to combine both private and inexpensive public broadband connections to lower costs. By utilizing multiple wide-area network links, the Edge can establish multiple Site2Site tunnels between the corporate and branch offices. These tunnels can then be bound in order to balance session traffic between them and thus increase performance. Automated tunnel failover and failback ensures 24/7 access for remote workers.
